Our passion: Keeping traditions alive

At the heart of the Cornwall Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, you'll find a dedicated group of enthusiastic craftspeople. We are committed to helping keep alive the traditional arts of hand spinning, weaving, and dyeing, ensuring these beautiful skills continue to flourish and inspire. Our journey began with a shared love for fibre arts, and that passion continues to drive everything we do.

An energetic community, sharing our craft

The Cornwall Guild boasts an energetic community of members who share a profound love for fibre arts. Our dedication extends beyond our own craft; we've gained a strong public profile through engaging demonstrations at local shows and by running inspiring workshops at schools and other organisations. We believe in the power of sharing knowledge and igniting a similar passion in others.

From fibre to finished product: our craft techniques

Our guild delves into the fascinating world of traditional fibre arts. We meticulously process raw protein fibres such as wool and alpaca, alongside working with plant-based fibres like flax, cotton, and bamboo. This allows us to produce high-quality yarn, which we then transform through dyeing, weaving, knitting or crocheting. Beyond these core crafts, many of our members are avid supporters and practitioners of braiding, felting, and tapestry weaving, constantly exploring new dimensions of fibre artistry.

"The Cornwall Guild's passion for traditional crafts is truly infectious. They not only preserve history but also inspire new creations!"
